Carter Notch Overnight

We'll climb to Carter Notch Hut and stay for two nights. While in the Notch, we'll visit Carter Dome, South and Middle Carter, Wildcat and Wildcat D.

Saturday Morning

  • Note: this hike and the dinner are optional

  • 9:30am @ Carter-Moriah Trailhead in Gorham (GPS: 44.382351, -71.169444)

  • Trails: Carter-Moriah Trail

  • Distance: 9 miles

  • Elevation Gain: 3,550'

  • High Point: 4,049' (Mount Moriah)

  • Hiking Time: 6½ hours

We will have dinner (not included in the cost) at Moat Mountain Smoke House (venue subject to change) prior to hitting Nineteen Mile Brook Trail.

NOTE: There is NO heat in the bunkhouses. The hut itself has heat, but is separate.

NOTE: There are cooking pots, utensils, etc in the hut, but you must bring your own food and cook it.

Monday

  • 8am @ Carter Notch Hut

  • Trails: Wildcat Ridge and Nineteen Mile Brook Trails

  • Distance: 9.8 miles

  • Elevation Gain: 2,800'

  • High Point: 4,422' (Wildcat Mtn)

  • Hiking Time: 6 hours
